Blackberries

Blackberries can be found almost everywhere in the Dutch landscape. It is a very strong plant that cannot simply be eradicated and those properties are reflected in the effectiveness of blackberry leaves. It helps the horse with the following:

  • increase resistance (because of vitamin C)
  • improving intestinal flora
  • diarrhea or irregular droppings
  • inflamed airways
  • cleansing and detoxifying the blood

How much and for how long?
Pick a handful of blackberry leaves for a few days or weeks or let your horse eat them himself, after all, a horse is a collector. The gathering of food by horses themselves is also called "browsing".

If the horse does not eat it, then it apparently does not need or like a blackberry leaf. This applies to all herbs that you want to give yourself.

Did you know?

  • Bramble leaf can also help with nutrition-related diseases in horses, such as insulin resistance, laminitis, muscle finitis and Monday disease? Of course, you must first improve the rest of the ration, otherwise it won't work.
  • Blackberries are also extremely healthy for people ? They contain a high amount of fiber and nutrients. They are also packed with vitamins and minerals. Because they are available both fresh and frozen, you can enjoy them all year round.
  • Is the largest the sweetest and tastiest?
  • They taste best when they are almost black?
  • You can pick the blackberries in the months of August, September and October? But you often see the first fruits in July.
  • Are they collectible stone fruits and not berries? This is because they are actually all berries stuck together, instead of 1 berry, the blackberry is a collection of berries.

Feel free to pick a few ripe blackberries for yourself and some blackberry leaves for the horses and enjoy!

  • Do you leave the flowers and unripe blackberries hanging, so that insects, our animals and other visitors can still enjoy them?
  • Take a beautiful photo of the buzzing bees near the blossom or the tastiest blackberry from De Avonturentuin and share it on social media.
  • And mark the herb board at the herb buffet, so everyone will know that you have picked delicious blackberry leaves for the horses.

This way you can share your happiness!
